THE RESEARCH BRIEFFictional example

COMPANY / 001

A feedback tool for studios.

RESEARCH DIRECTION

Start with a narrower audience.

Independent design studios may feel the cost of scattered client feedback most acutely. Start with teams managing several projects at once.

Evidence to look for

Look for repeated complaints about revision rounds and approval delays.

A plausible audience, not yet a validated customer segment.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Interview five studio owners about their last delayed project.

Illustrative content. Your report includes source links.
  • Check the evidenceSources are linked; unsupported claims are flagged.
  • Nothing is sent without youEach outreach action waits for your approval.
  • Demo data is always labelledSimulated results never mix with real ones.
  • Control your workspaceOwner-only export and deletion, with billing safeguards.

How it works

From a business question to a research report, a practical test and a recommendation grounded in your recorded results.

01 / THE PROCESS

Describe your business and your biggest question

Enter your website, what you offer and who you hope to help. Add the question you need to answer before investing more time or money.

  • Your website, read directly
  • Your own description of the buyer
  • Optional context: stage, pricing, competitors

One place to research and learn

A company report is your starting point.

Enter your website, describe your offer and tell Pursuit who you hope to serve. A research report brings together your market, potential customers, competitors, pricing, positioning and a first-week plan.

Research suggests what to try. Real interviews, commitments and measured results tell you whether it works. Use the six workflows to keep that evidence together.

Find your first customers
Compare customer groups, keep sourced prospect research and test which audience has the strongest need.
Test willingness to pay
Track budgets, current spending and pricing feedback. Keep verbal interest separate from actual commitments.
Compare your message
Create outreach variants and record replies. Compare rates with sample sizes and uncertainty.
Understand the problem
Record interviews, workarounds, recurring pain and contradictory answers before deciding what to build.
Map the competition
Compare competitors, pricing and positioning with source links. See where information is missing.
Find funnel drop-offs
Import a CSV or enter stage counts. See conversion rates and design tests for competing explanations.

A LITTLE CLARITY GOES A LONG WAY

Start small. Research when you need it.

Choose a plan per workspace. Your saved evidence and manual experiments stay accessible on every plan.

Prices are in USD and include applicable taxes. No extra GST is added at checkout. Monthly plans renew automatically; unused monthly allowances expire. Single Report credits do not expire. No automatic overage charges.

One research credit covers a full report, section refresh or company discovery search, even when no companies match. Refresh and discovery need Founder or Team. One AI answer covers a report question or optional AI-assisted recommendation.

Creating an account is free. Purchases happen inside an owner's workspace only when payments are configured. Sample workspaces cannot be billed; simulated actions do not send anything. Fo and email-provider charges are separate.

Before you start

Do I need to know startup terminology?

No. Start with a plain-language description of your business. Reading controls explain terms and let you switch between a guided view and more detail.

Does research prove that people will buy?

No. Reports link available sources and highlight assumptions and limitations. Customer conversations, actual commitments and measured outcomes provide stronger evidence.

Will Pursuit contact people automatically?

Every external action needs your approval. Real outreach also needs a connected Fo account and the required permissions. Simulated actions are labelled and never send anything.

Can I explore before paying?

Yes. Explore includes a labelled sample report and all six manual experiment workflows. Generating a new company report needs a research credit and an available research service.

Where do I manage a paid plan?

Workspace owners can see allowances, available checkout options and billing management in Plans & billing. A disabled checkout means purchases are not available in that environment.
